North Charleston, South Carolina 10/18 – 10/24/2010

Staying in North Charleston, SC this week.  I love this area of the country.  We are pretty close to the ocean and enjoyed a fantastic day in Historical Charleston.

Buck organized a fantastic trip of sailing.  We had a wonderful lunch of fresh seafood overlooking the bay at an old navy dock called Fleet Landing.  As we were enjoying out delicious fresh caught seafood lunch we watched a pod of dolphins swim by.

After lunch Ceclia and I took a walk and checked out Waterfront Park, the City Market, and some of the houses in the Historical district.  I really enjoyed walking around and taking in the sights.  I remember walking around this area as a child being flat our board and not appreciating the historical aspect of the area.  To get a chance to take in everything with an appreciation for it all was has to be a once in a lifetime experience.

As I said Buck organized a sailing outing.  We had six people go; Lauren, Steph, Tammy, Seregy, Buck and myself. Buck was in his element, he is n experienced sailor and has been sailing his entire life.  We had booked a wonderful little sunset cruise with OSA (Ocean Sailing Academy) and had the ability to do as much or as little as we wanted on the trip.

We headed out to cruise the Charleston Harbor and the views were spectacular!  We were able to see a few lighthouses and get a close up look at Fort Sumter. We all took turns driving the boat and sitting on the deck watching the jelly fish go by.

As the sun was setting we cruised along the East Battery where all of the really big historical houses are.  It made for the perfect sunset and a perfect ending to our trip.

Beautiful sunset to end a fantastic trip

My PR this week was going to a hospital and reading to the children’s playroom and having Cinderella come for a visit.  There were three of us that went for the event and we each had a role to play while we were there.  I went into the room first to play with some of the kids and do a few crafts then read them the story and introduce the kids to my friend, Cinderella. We had our training the day before on how to talk with the media so I was all ready for my first big interview… I’m really glad that the interview was taped and not live so that the station could edit out my mistakes.  I was really nervous when the camera was turned on.  But the whole day really was one of the highlights of Charleston.  I love to be able to give back to the community and have an opportunity to go to a hospital and bring a smile to some faces that are probably having a pretty rough time really is something special.

A few very funny things happened this week.  First our hotel had an infestation of ants and several people had to change rooms.  Our hotel was beautiful and our rooms were huge with a sofa seating area as well as space for beds, even by American hotel standards this is big!  Second the arena that we played was FREEZING!!!  Which was quite the change from how warm the outside was.  And third and the most amazing was that our bus driver got lost on the way to the venue to pick us up after our last show to take us to our next city.  We were stranded at the Coliseum for several hours after Pre Show load out.  So we had a little treat of some B-Dub’s for the Pre Show crew.  Perfect evening, Beer, Wings, and watching sports and playing trivia with the boys, what more could a girl ask for?  Finally the third bus showed up and took the second bus load to our next destination leaving the third bus load to spend another night in Charleston.

We had quite the adventure in North Charleston and I can’t wait to come back here.
